Sea kayaks: Whisky 16, Doubloon and XO17 – by Point 65 Sweden

We use the 16 feet long sea kayak model Whisky 16 Tourer designed by the renowned sea kayak expert Nigel Foster (http://www.nigelfosterdesigns.com/77972/65087.html), or here with a specification if use Google translate, (https://kajakogfriluftsliv.dk/vare/point65-whisky-16-tourer/). Its manufactured by the Swedish kayak brand, Point 65 Sweden in sustainable recyclable 3 layer polyethylene. It’s equipped with both rudder and skeg but the last one works bad due to the coral sand. But edging is easy so you could manage easily without any.

This versatile sea kayak is a gem for both novice and expert kayakers. Its adaptable design ensures a comfortable and stable ride, making it an ideal choice for beginners while offering the performance desired by experienced paddlers. The Whisky 16 has a large volume cockpit in a medium size opening making it less warm and also less sun burning on the thighs. It also has a huge storage capacity and its shallow draft prevents us from destroying corals even in low tide. As Misool has very many tight rock labyrinths, gaps, tunnels and caves we want to go, the Whisky 16’s very high maneuverability is the perfect kayak for this. The sister model Whisky 16 Rocker (with more rocker that we will get later!) has been reviewed at Adventure Kayak Magazine in a Youtube video. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKuiqG-N_Fk)

For those who prefer double or tandem kayaks, for example families or beginners, we use two rather similar models that are very stable but still have rather good speed. Large cockpits and with rudder.

Either Point 65 Doubloon (also with skeg) (https://point65.se/products/doubloon-gt-3l), or Point 65 XO17 (use Google translate) (https://kajakogfriluftsliv.dk/vare/point65-xo17-gs-hdpe-tandem-havkajak/).

All the Millekul kayaks are equipped with a bottom protection to avoid micro plastic in the sea and they are also extra equipped with a security line, extra deck cord, some with deck balls for paddle rest and also cargo cords with hooks for attaching snorkel equipment and bags on the after deck. Half of the kayaks are also equipped with fish rod holders for trolling. The addition of Skwoosh seat gel pads makes much more comfortable paddling and we have Kajak Sport hand pumps for empty the kayaks of water.

Camping Experience

Our commitment to providing an exceptional camping experience aligns with our dedication to unparalleled sea kayaking. By exceptional we don’t mean luxury as adventurers seeking our kind of trips are not for luxury, but we mean convenient, efficient, and sustainable.

We use the Swedish Hilleberg tarps (https://hilleberg.com/eng/shelters/tarp/) over Hilleberg Nammatj 3 mesh inner tents (for 3 persons good for 2) (https://hilleberg.com/eng/shelters/mesh-inner-tents/), to ensure safety from rain and mosquitoes while keeping the air flow.

For sleeping we have the largest 12 cm thick super comfortable Megamat Lite 12 LXW mattresses from Exped (https://www.exped.com/en/products/sleeping-mats/megamat-lite-12?sku=7640171993256) (with a combo electric pump and lamp, so don’t worry), plus Exped MegaPillow and you sleep well on our silk sheets to make sure you have a healthy rest for the next day’s adventure.

We also provide inner tent fans (noiseless, one per person) for ventilation and Goal Zero power banks (USB 2 power banks, one per tent) to keep your devices charged throughout the journey, allowing you to capture every moment of your adventure.

At Namlol basecamp we can set up an outdoor kitchen with several stoves, small ovens, and an ”outdoor restaurant” with real chairs and tables. So we can enjoy good meals and be social under cozy Goal Zero lamps or a huge tarp if needed. We can also put up several hammocks so you can take a rest.

Millekul Toilets and hygien

Toilets and hygien

At Millekul Adventures, we understand the importance of environmental preservation. Hence, we utilize Separett sustainable toilets (https://separett.com/de/en), to minimize our impact on the delicate ecosystem of Misool. We have two kinds of toilets, one stationary big toilet with fan for basecamps and one smaller portable for lunch beaches. This allows us to separate the waste and then we can use the waste as fertilizer in the plantations on our base, Panun Island. See pic of toilet here. (link to pic at sustainable under page)

We also have freshwater shower bags at the basecamps with biodegradable shampoo and soap. French olive soap for washing the hands beside the dinner table and toilet. This commitment reflects our dedication to responsible and sustainable tourism.
