A more relaxed and shorter version of our Long trips. A 12 day trip comprising 4 nights in a homestay of your choice, 2 nights in an overwater homestay situated in the mid archipelago, 2 nights up in the Blue River camp with 5 days of kayaking.
We will see stunning karst formations, millenia old rock paintings, explore caves, hike up peaks to see mind blowing scenery, visit the locals at their villages, and go kayaking up the blue river to Misool’s lush jungle camp where we will stay 2 nights among the vibrant jungle life.
Boat supported Medium End trips (not boat all days)
We have boat support on the days we move between accommodations. No boat during the days we do day trips from basecamp and inner archipelago homestay. You kayak with an unloaded kayak which is a little faster and easy to maneuver in between the rocks and you get more time to explore Misool.
Boat trip to visit the Muslim village, enough time for trekking in Papustralia Island and going over to the Blue River by boat makes it a more time efficient trip with a more comfortable first basecamp. Also the boat trips to leave the jungle to visit the Christian Matbat village, visit the fjord and the amazing giant caves and then get back to the homestay is much easier than the Unsupported Medium End trips.
The Boat supported Medium End trips works both for experts who want more paddling and for beginners who want easier paddling. We can adapt the trip according to your skills. No long kayaking distances if not wanted. For families and beginner couples it works with the use of double kayaks. 2 nights camping in 1 basecamps. 7 nights at 1 or 2 homestays.
Unsupported Medium End trips (boat first and last day)
This Unsupported version is an expedition style. Almost the same itinerary as the Boat supported Medium End trips but with a few differences.
On the 7th day, paddling day 1, to the Blue River basecamp it’s a long paddling. Followed by one easy day in the jungle. After the jungle we are kayaking to the fjord but as it is a long day again we need to camp one night in the fjord. We paddle back along fjord openings and grass islands to the inner archipelago for a third long paddling day. Only the Unsupported Long and Unsupported Medium End trips do this paddling.
Paddling with loaded kayaks on the days when changing accommodation. Some previous kayaking and camping experience is good for doing the Unsupported Medium End trips but we had also strong beginners making it. It’s also possible to use a double kayak with a guide. From the 1st paddling day, you will have 3 long paddling distances (approx. 20-25km). 3 nights camping, 2 nights in the jungle basecamp and 1 single night camp. 6 nights at 1 or 2 homestays.
Itinerary
To be able to follow the places we will visit and stay during the trips please check the map of South-East Misool where we have put in the archipelagos, basecamps, homestays and Yellu.
